Waterfall, figure drawing
and a new zine release
Look at this nice drawing. I spent some time with a waterfall this past August. The thick soft tip of my metallic gold pen flowed over the page with the same confidence as the cold sparkling cascade, one day after returning to my room, sun-stupid and skin-taut.
Drawing feels good, which feels especially important right now. I don't know about you, but bearing witness to my elected officials funding genocide in Palestine, among other atrocities, levies some heavy pressure and I am tempted often to collapse, condense or calcify like a hard rock under a relentless, freezing stream. And I do, sometimes. And sometimes I'm warm, like the sun on the water, impossibly compelling, making revolution irresistable. But most of the time I'm in the middle, crying or numbed out or struggling to call my representatives. (I succeeded today: 5 calls makes it easy.)

Drawing feels good, and gathering together feels good, and if you live in Chicago, I invite you to do both this Sunday, December 17. I'll be hosting figure drawing at my place in Hyde Park from 4-7pm. We will be serving hot cider! Please reply to this email if you are interested in attending and need the address. Masks required :)
